This is one of those completely moronic websites that somehow remains ever popular and entertaining.
The rules of the game are simple:
1) you hold the button
2) you get timed
3) you get ranked
4) you tried to beat your score
5) you realize an hour later how stupid this game is but continue to play
I tried moving up within the ranks of this worldwide button-holding competition by strategically placing a textbook on the mouse, thus holding the button while I was free to pay attention to other things, like the class I was attending at the time. (I won't tell you how it ended.)

Death Switch - Information Insurance
What if you died and you took with you all the passwords to your bank accounts, email addresses, and most importantly, your myspace account?!!?
Fret no more, my friend...
Death Switch is a creepy new service that will pass on your passwords to whomever you specify once your dead.
In fact, they'll pass on anything else you want to share too, such as that lifelong fucked up secret you always held or, as suggested by Death Switch, the ability to "have the lost word" (my favorite).
Now all you have to fear is hell.

Shave Your Yeti
This is what I'd be doing with my time if I knew how to code it. And then I'd let companies like Polartec buy it out from me for mad cash.
Anyhow, what can I say about this site. Any description will sound retarded in print.
Just be sure to completely shave him so you'll get to dress him up and watch him frolic around happily to what must be some weird 70's TV theme song.

Average Homeboy
This is hilarious.
At first I thought it was real... now I'm thinking it's a brilliant fake.
I found the guys website here. But... I still can't tell if he's just an idiot who's been trying to make it into the business for 20 years or if he just put all this together in such a way that it's a) horrible on purpose b) appears to be from the 80's and c)now he's making a bunch of money of of it.
What do you think?

Creepy DARPA robots
This is a robot created by DARPA. DARPA is always up to some insane project, like bio-engineering soldiers to jump 20 feet high or, as in the video above, creating robots that can walk through snow, rocks, mud, and puddles and even keeping their balance after receiving a hard shove.
If you're familiar with the history of Artificial Intelligence research, you'll know that the capabilities of this robot is leaps and bounds beyond the stuff from the past. Of course, give it 10 or 20 years and we'll be laughing at primitive robots like these since we ourselves will by cyborg half-breeds.
But right now - damn, that thing creeps me out!
Here's the official description:
"The Most Advanced Quadruped Robot on Earth
BigDog is the alpha male of the Boston Dynamics family of robots. It is a quadruped robot that walks, runs, and climbs on rough terrain and carries heavy loads. BigDog is powered by a gasoline engine that drives a hydraulic actuation system. BigDog's legs are articulated like an animal's, and have compliant elements that absorb shock and recycle energy from one step to the next."

Long Bets : Intelligent Predictions for the Future
Long Bets takes a long-term look at growth and change, whose stated goal is to "improve long-term thinking." The draw here is that people make long-term bets and back it up with cash which is later donated to charity.
The bets themselves are not your run-of-the-mill type deals. Some examples:
Some of them come and go:
Some of them mock the site itself:

"In a Google search of five keywords or phrases representing the top five news stories of 2007, weblogs will rank higher than the New York Times' Web site."
"By 2020, bioterror or bioerror will lead to one million casualties in a single event."
"By 2050 no synthetic computer nor machine intelligence will have become truly self-aware (ie. will become conscious)."
Some of them come and go:
"As of March 7th, 2005, Osama bin Laden is dead."
Some of them mock the site itself:
"The Long Bets Foundation will no longer exist in 2104."

20 Questions
20Q.net will blow your mind.
It uses an amazing algorithm to determine ANYTHING you're thinking of in 20 questions or less.
No kidding.
Throw the most random shit at it that you can come up with and 9 times out of 10, it's gonna figure it out by asking you 20 questions or less. And don't confuse the online version with that handheld toy they sell at the mall - this one is way faster, smarter, and better.
My friend and I played this game for an embaressing amount of time one night. Now it's your turn.
Click here for some good AI that will have you shouting like a drunken frat boy at your computer in no time.

Fun with Knives at Five Finger Fillet
Remember that scene in Aliens where the android takes a knife, puts a guys hand on the table, and then plays this game where he stabs the table in between his fingers faster and faster while the guy screams his little head off?!
Five Finger Fillet lets you play this delightful party game with the added ability of making mistakes until there's nothing left but a screaming victim and a bunch of bloody, severed fingers.
Play Five Finger Fillett by clicking here you, sick-o.

Write a Letter to Yourself in the Future
I discovered Future Me one lonely night while surfing the web and spent the next hour at the site, enthralled by the painfully honest, strange, mundane, or wonderfully ambitious letters people had written to themselves.
And that's what this site is all about. It allows you to write a letter to yourself and have it emailed to you at a later date - be it a week, a month, a year, 10 years, or (supposedly) 50 years later.
But it also allows you to make your entries anonymously public, and that's what kept me at the site for so long.
It was as if I stumbled upon a thousand diaries mixed up into one. I found a heartfelt letter from a father to his kids, to be sent to them when he was no longer alive. I found so many letters that really were mean-spirited - it was sad to see so many people sending themselves mean notes about how they'd better get their live straight in the future. Some were simply snapshots of ones life at the time. Others were reminders that by the time this get this email, they'd better be back in college or have landed that good job or taken that trip across the world.
I joined in on the fun and wrote myself a long email about my life and what's going on at the moment. Sure enough, a year later it showed up on time in my mailbox. I honestly had forgotten about it so it was a nice suprise. I didn't make it public though. It had too many personal details. :)
